At the end of ITB Berlin, according to Messe Berlin, the industry was extremely robust and optimistic as it had been for years. The high spirits are also reflected in the balance sheet of the five-day show at the Berlin Exhibition Center: the trade fair, which has been almost fully booked for months, sees its significance as an economic barometer and compass underpinned. With around 110,000 trade visitors from Germany and abroad, ITB Berlin was able to expand its position as the most important marketplace in the international travel industry according to its own statements. Despite the spring weather, around 60,000 private visitors flocked to the exhibition halls on Saturday and Sunday and took advantage of the broad range of information provided by the exhibitors. His role as a think tank of the industry was also strengthened by the ITB Berlin Congress, which dealt with current topics such as overtourism or digitization.
The upbeat mood of the industry is being driven, in particular, by the positive economic climate in the euro zone, which, according to the estimates of leading economic institutes, is as good as it has been since the turn of the millennium.
For the first time, a partner country presented itself at Inhorgenta Munich: Poland presented more than 300 award-winning jewelery pieces made of amber as part of the exhibition “Baltic Amber. Tradition & Innovation “. 40 Polish exhibitors and an amber grinding workshop in Gdansk made live pieces of jewelery for the trade fair visitors, completing the appearance of the host country at the fair.
The subject of jewelery remains color – especially colored stones. But also unusual color combinations of different materials in the trend – as the winner of the Inhorgenta Award Gellner impressively shows:
The trend towards smartwatches is also continuing. Especially hybrid watches, also watches in analogue design, useful additional functions, are in focus.
Another megatrend this year was the topic of digitization. At the “Digital Forum”, visitors were able to discuss the topic in numerous events. An answer to the question “How do I reach my customers?” Is the clever combination of offline and online offerings that today’s customer comes for. Furthermore, the designers are looking for new customers, the individual pieces of jewelry: unmistakable and high quality.
